Summer Textiles

Design Post share icon

Oh the weather outside is…AWESOME! So grab a picnic blanket and get out there! Newly designed summer textiles are being woven daily and we wanted to highlight a couple of designers that we think are the bees knees.

First is Miss Harper Poe of Proud Mary Textiles. This Charleston-based (for now) lady has been in the business of textile design for five years and doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon, thankfully. Inspired by her volunteer trip with Habitat for Humanity to South America in 2008, Harper began partnering with artisans around the world to create what can best be described as sustainable, ‘ethnic-modern’ textiles. Currently Proud Mary works with weavers and artisans in Mali, West Africa, Guatemala, Morocco, Peru and Niger. Proud Mary is a design business produced with fair trade principles and traditional methods of production. But it’s not this foundation that keeps Harper’s business alive, her designs compete brilliantly in the western market with their bold looks and exceptional quality. Take a look for yourself at some of Proud Mary’s latest products for the summer! I know I want to lounge on one of these beautiful and comfy-looking poufs right now…but maybe not with a goat. And read more about Miss Poe’s Proud Mary here!

Also, designer, and co-op store Steven Alan have introduced several striking and soft antique-loom woven blankets that will have you jumping to find the best spot on the lawn or the beach! Check out these new styles for summer and then immediately plan a trip in the sun.
