Designing for War with National Geographic Channel

Uncategorized Post share icon

ST8MNT has a longstanding relationship with National Geographic Channel, and we relish the opportunity to collaborate with their in-house team to design fresh creative for such captivating subject matter. Most recently, we did the branding and graphic design for two new premiers: “SEAL Team 6” and “Doomsday Preppers.”

SEAL Team 6
Nat Geo asked ST8MNT’s designers to create a book for “SEAL Team 6,” a made-for-TV movie about the raid on Osama Bin Laden from the Weinstein Company, director John Stockwell and Academy Award-winning producer of “The Hurt Locker,” Nicolas Chartier.

The book ST8MNT created spotlights imagery, historical events and actors (including Xzibit!) from the movie. Nat Geo provided us with the movie stills, and we applied an image treatment to heighten the overall cinematic feel. We also used elements like crosshairs and overhead satellite imagery to complement the brand’s compelling identity.

Doomsday Preppers
We must say that “Doomsday Preppers” is riveting. This reality show series features end-of-timers and their plans for surviving an apocalyptic event, then rates the plans on their effectiveness.

When Nat Geo needed a promo for potential advertisement buyers, they asked us to create something remarkable and memorable. We designed a “bug-out kit” DVD holder that looks like a fire-safe box, complete with spinner that lets the user select a favorite doomsday scenario. Two dozen images went into creating a single photo composite, and we think it’s on par with the awesomeness of the show.

Be sure to check out the new season of “Doomsday Preppers,” premiering November 13 on Nat Geo.
